opry mills, may 2010

opry mills announced today it will reopen in spring 2012 with some new additions.  among the new line-up: coach factory store, calvin klein, tommy bahama outlet, talbots, chicos, white house black market, under armour factory house and the LEGO store.

previous anchors that have committed to return include: saks fifth avenue OFF 5TH, banana republic factory store, a greatly expanded forever 21, j.crew factory, brooks brothers factory store, ann taylor factory store, victoria’s secret, tommy hilfiger company store, off broadway shoes, regal cinemas opry mills stadium 20 & IMAX, dave & buster’s, rainforest café and aquarium restaurant.

work was halted last year when the simon company pursued litigation against its insurance company after the historic may 2010 flood left the mall ravaged.  the simon company had claimed their insurer was withholding $150 million in flood coverage and maintained that construction would not continue until the litigation had moved forward.  officials had said the outcome would impact the reopening.

bass pro shop, the mall’s largest anchor, is the only tenant currently back in business.  four other major anchors, regal cinemas opry mills stadium 20 & IMAX, dave & buster’s, VF outlet and sun & ski sport, will soon join bass pro shops and open for business before the 2011 holiday season.  the grand reopening is scheduled for march 29, 2012.  the opry mills provides over 3,000 jobs to the nashville market.
