the old polar cold storage building site has long been a hot topic of conversation among local city planning circles. it has been discussed as a possible site for a convention center, a sounds ballpark, and a light-rail transit station of recent but the corner of charlotte & 11th ave will now become a more practical option: a 302-unit apartment community called eleven north.
the 130,000 sqft building is being demolished this month after long being prime real estate for the homeless. it will make way for the two, new four-story buildings that will come with a rooftop fitness lounge, rooftop gardens, pools
, concealed parking, and both buildings will easily connect to nashville’s green way. some consider it a gateway to the gulch neighborhood on the north side. the first building should be complete by spring 2012.
