gm to invest $32 million in spring hill plant

general motors will invest $32 million into their spring hill auto plant south of town where the company currently builds cylinder engines and vehicle body panels.  details were uncertain on how much volume and how many new jobs this would produce but it will fund equipment to allow the plant to build a higher number of engines.  40 percent of the vehicles gm sells are equipped with those four-cylinder engines.

spring hill was among the plants affected when gm downsized during their bankruptcy reorganization in mid 2009.  the assembly of the chevrolet traverse was at that time moved to a facility in michigan.
