100 oaks neighborhood will soon be home to a new wal-mart. the 96,000 square foot space vacated by home depot expo will be the area’s smallest wal-mart supercenter but a welcomed addition to the bustling berry hill district.
the area has had a much needed revitalization over recent months with the addition of 1,300 vanderbilt employees moving into the second floor of the 100 oaks mall in 2008, across the street from the proposed supercenter site. 100 oaks was nashville’s first enclosed mall in 1968 and today, handles about 2,000 cars a day on average.
completion for the wal-mart supercenter is estimated for late 2011 with a grand opening january 25, 2012. it is expected to bring about 200 jobs.
