the culinary landscape of the 12 south neighborhood is changing this fall. three new restaurants are under construction in the area:
sloco-“sandwiches. local. organic. quick” is their motto. for lunch only, the sandwich shop is focusing on sandwiches, chips & drink for under $10 with a slice of environmental awareness. they’ve claimed prime real estate next to burger up & las paletas in the 12th & paris building. the counter will only seat about 15 people but they eventually want to offer delivery via bicycle around town. sloco is shooting to open in mid-october.
edley’s barbeque/2706 12th avenue south-promises to combine the southern style of meat & 3 veggies with the best bar-b-que this side of the mississippi. edley’s opens in november.
urban grub/2506 12th avenue south-located in the previous carwash near mafiozas, urban grub we know a little less about. the menu will be a combination of southern tradition with a “flavored up tweak”. fresh fish, chucked oysters, smoked & grilled meats with vegetables and catina-style hand helds. less stuffy, more casual, and more accessible to pick-up & go.
