oprah buys dad’s nashville barbershop at auction

about a month ago, the nashville barbershop oprah’s dad has owned for nearly 50 years went into foreclosure.  80-year-old vernon winfrey had bought a new building in the cleveland park area for the classic barbershop last year but more recently, he and his wife had been unable to make the payments to the bank.  last week, oprah won the bid in the auction and purchased the building for a little over $475,000.

a statement released from oprah’s spokesperson,  nicole nichols, states: “oprah winfrey has purchased winberry place in east nashville, tennessee where her father runs a barber shop.  the property was in foreclosure.  vernon winfrey has been a fixture of the community for decades and will continue to manage the business on a day-to-day basis.”
