it was announced this week that advance hotel reservations for upcoming conferences downtown at the new music city center has topped 700,000. 86 conferences are officially on the books now as well. the nashville convention & visitors bureau hopes to reach 1 million hotel rooms booked by the center’s opening in april 2013. so it stands to reason, hotels want to be part of the energy being created in the sobro neighborhood surrounding the convention center.
in addition to the 21-story omni hotel that will be ready for business in november 2013 and the 13-story hyatt which is now in the works and slated for december 2013, franklin-based chartwell hospitality plans to break grounds this fall on an 11-story hilton garden inn, the area’s next big high rise hotel. the 200-room hotel wants to capitalize on its location on the corner of korean veteran blvd and third avenue south as well as its elevation, focusing on the panoramic views.
415 & 422 fourth avenue south were also purchased by a nashville hotel developer recently for $2.75 million. details will follow as the plans become firmer for these two properties.
