a long abandoned 70-foot hole that is filled with water at the west end/broadway split will be replaced soon. the west end summit development lost its financing in the mid-2000s and construction came to a screeching halt but with a revised game plan, it’s back on the books.
the $200+ million project is expected to start early next year. it will house the headquarters of two of HCA’s business units, parallon business solutions and sarah cannon research institute, and bring 2,000 jobs. mayor dean is calling it the largest job announcement in nashville since dell in the mid 1990s.
the development will be two twenty story towers consisting of over 900,000 square feet of office space with the two companies taking up about 500,000 square feet of that. the rest of that class a office space will either be open for other businesses or for these two companies to expand. it will also include a 225-unit four-and-a-half star luxury hotel.
mayor dean also jokingly added the water from “lake palmer” will begin being pumped out soon.
