developer tony giarratana, who has previously added the encore, the cumberland, and the viridian to our nashville skyline, can soon add another one to his portfolio: a 32-story high rise called the sobro. coincidentally, if approved, it will sit in the sobro (south of broadway) neighborhood between the encore building and the river on two lots (currently parking lots) on the corner of demonbreun and second avenue south. giarratana purchased the two parcels in 2008 for $5 million.
when completed, it will become one of nashville’s tallest buildings, containing 300 apartments, 20,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space and 500 parking spaces. the price tag is set at $88 million and giarratana and his partners hope to start construction by the end of the year.
