six years after the stores closed, there’s a new vision for the bellevue mall property west of town that might stick. in a community meeting thursday night, crosland southeast executives announced to residents that the 75-acre lot would be redeveloped into 330 apartment units, a 110-unit hotel, and up to 600,000 square feet of retail space as well as roughly 150,000 square feet of medical or office space. the previous bellevue mall structure will be torn down by the end of next year. the $100 million game plan instead calls for open-air retail.
crosland is known best here in nashville for helming the creation of the 103-acre providence marketplace in mount juliet, in a joint venture with carolina holdings. they anticipate completion of the multi-use redevelopment by 2017 or 2018.
country superstars tim mcgraw and faith hill have recently listed their 753 acre farm in williamson county. the property sits at 4009 carters creek pike. the $20 million price tag includes a 3,330 square foot restored log home, an antebellum home known as beechwood hall and the caretaker’s residence as well as a 12-stall barn, lush rolling hills and ponds.
it is not the couple’s primary residence.
although built in the 1850s and now in need of restoration, beechwood hall was once home to hank williams sr.
within walking distance to main street in downtown franklin, bristol development will soon break ground on vandalia cottages, a new 17-unit residential development. sitting on one of the last undeveloped tracts of land in downtown franklin, the homes (on boyd mill avenue) will range from 1250-1805 square feet.
they start in the low $300s and will include granite countertops, high-end appliance packages, hardwood floors, reclaimed historic front doors and expansive front porches that overlook a common courtyard in between the homes, similar in style to neighborhoods closer to nashville’s urban core like gale park and west end station. three units have already been pre-sold of the seventeen.
the speculation has been circling since last fall that johnny depp was interested in property here in music city. although the reasons why are still unclear, word online today (thanks to the real estalker) is that he purchased a 19,042 square foot mansion in the burbs which was listed at a cool $17.5 million. the gated 48-acre estate with a seven car garage and heated pool is actually the second big real estate transaction for depp this fall. in september, he purchased a $4.4 million la mansion for his ex and two children.
johnny depp was born in owensboro, kentucky just two hours north of nashville and made his film debut in a nightmare on elm street in 1984. he has since gone on to be in such blockbusters as edward scissorhands in the 90s and most recently in the pirates of the caribbean.
nothing was confirmed in the tax records and the house is technically still shown as active on the market but if the reports are true, he’s another one in a long line who have discovered the allure and charm of our little city.

realtors know that neutral palettes sell homes. clean, neutral colors throughout give buyers a the feeling of starting fresh. no tattoos. no piercings. while using white as a neutral color isn’t exactly shocking, it is when the color is actually white. like white-white. whiiiite!
so why not do for yourself what your realtor is already telling you: don’t wait to paint until you’re ready to sell. how about actually living in a pretty space?!
we’ve all seen gray and off-white (cream), or (gasp) builder beige… but what we are seeing as the freshest of the fresh and newest of the new is just plain white. white walls and white trim (as much trim as your budget can afford).
to us it feels modern and clean. it’s ready for an amazing furniture and fabulous accessories. lamps, pillows, drapes, flowers, and don’t even get me started on how amazing art looks on white walls (ever been in a builder beige art gallery…didn’t think so.)
so get on out there do something crazy… like paint your whole space white! if you’re looking for a good one, my favorite white is benjamin moore “white dove”. there are no undertones of color. it’s all the way white.
now, onwards. can’t wait to see the pics!
